About Us

ReclaimLogo_Large

was created with a vision to advance popular entertainment by encouraging artists and communities to embrace the universal values of excellence, truth and beauty – which some feel have been neglected, especially in the theatre. We will do this by assisting artists, connecting audiences, engaging the community, and influencing the culture. Reclaim Entertainment is not a theatre troupe. Rather, it seeks to support and collaborate with creative organizations and individuals which hold similar values.

In the past few decades, there has been considerable complaining about the state of the theatre, particularly within the faith community. This negative perception has resulted in an exodus of formerly regular theatregoers.  But there is much excellent theatre still availableAudience-edit-web, and more is being created all the time. With encouragement, there will be even more. Reclaim will support artists by providing financial assistance, mentoring, and recognition – and by connecting them with audiences. Those audiences will find Reclaim to be a trusted and valuable resource for discovering existing and new shows that are broadly appealing.  As a focal point in the community, Reclaim will expand opportunities for all to share life-enriching entertainment.

The vision for Reclaim Entertainment was inspired by theater producer Dennis Babcock, known for his production of Triple Espresso® –a highly caffeinated comedy,  and other stage plays such as That Wonder Boy and To Begin With. As audiences shared their appreciation for these shows — along with their disappointment that they were unable to find others like them — Dennis conceived an organization to help increase the opportunities to discover and create more. Reclaim Entertainment was born.

As an umbrella organization, Reclaim Entertainment will connect artists with audiences and reach out to the community.

Reclaim Overview 20160819

For artists:
We will encourage creativity through grants, mentoring, collaborating with individual artists and theatre troupes to promote their work, presenting readings in a performance space, sponsoring festivals and awards, and building connections with audiences.

For audiences:
Reclaim will be a trusted resource for play reviews, recommendations, and tools, such as a conversation starter game about important ideas introduced in performances. We also hope to provide group attendance coordination and an opportunity for audience members to share their comments and recommendations with one another. The goal is to revitalize interest in the theatre for a large audience that has given up or has felt unable to find much worth attending.

For the community:
Opportunities will be offered to members of the community for whom this kind of entertainment has seemed inaccessible. Reclaim Entertainment also plans to have a performance space, training, and internships for students who wish to pursue a career in the theatre.

Reclaim’s initial work has concentrated on theatre; but the mission is much broader, and will ultimately encompass other forms of popular entertainment and the arts.

If you would like to help realize this sizable and worthy vision, please consider making a donation – of any size – to the work of Reclaim Entertainment. Thank you!
